A selfish king insists she make him a quilt. She teaches him a lesson as she keeps true to herself. Amazing pictures with intricate quilt designs on the inside covers. Ages 3 - 8 years

They sneak into the Dead Sea caves and discover petrified squirrels. They smuggle the squirrels  back home to the US thinking the squirrels will make cool souvenirs. The squirrels come back to life and many adventures are had! 8 - 10 years old will enjoy this series

 Avocado Asks What am I? by Momoko Abe Avocado was content in the supermarket until a child asks her mom what an avocado was. The mother did not know. This sets off an identity crisis for the avocado. He travels around the store asking the vegetables, fruit, fish , cheese, eggs where he fits in. He was fine at the end when the tomato said "Who cares what we are when we're simply amazing." Ages 3 - 5

 Bug on the Rug by Sophia Gholz illustrated by Susan Batori This is a delightful book for preschoolers and emerging readers. Rhyming words make this an easy read. Pug, a dog, is on a rug. Bug sets up camp on the same rug. Pug does not want Bug on his rug. He tries many tactics to get rid of Bug. Pug hurts Bug's feelings. They decide to share the rug. Then a surprise ending. Ages 3 -6

One book starts out with "You get THREE GOLD STARS for reading this book (good choice). The tale follows Tom Gates daily life as her has two weeks off school. He torments his younger sister, Delia. He has a garage band with his friends. Tom makes excuses when he doesn't get his chores done. Ages 7 - 12

 Winter is the Warmest Season by Lauren Stringer From the title to the pictures, this will get the little ones attention from the start. It points out warm things such as jackets, hats and mittens. Hot chocolate, soup and warm bread brings great word pictures to snuggle with. It lists pet cats, bubble baths and fun things to do inside in the winter. A definite feel good book with a lot to point in each illustration.  Ages 4 - 7

Williams illustrated by Jacqueline Alcantara The True life tale of unstoppable storycatcher Zora Neale Hurston Zora loved to hear the tales of the townfolk, passersby and kin. Zora's neighbors called Zora's stories lies but Zora's mama encouraged her to keep at it. Mama said "Jump at the sun, you might not reach it, but at least you are off the ground." Mama died. Zora got a mean stepmother who kicked her our of the family home at 14. Zora was determined to be a storyteller and she worked at it. Ages 4 - 8

Bright, bold pictures with lots to point out.  Great for preschoolers.

Bright pictures with numerous facts about each girl. It lists the year the Girl is representing and her world, outfits, nickname, secret wish and favorite pastimes. Grade level 3- 4

Room for Everyone

Room for Everyone  by Naaz Khan illustrated by Merce Lopez A book about a bus (daladala) going to the beach and making stops and room for everyone. How is everyone going to fit with ten swimmers, nine coconuts, eight sweets, seven umbrellas, six chickens, five fish, four pails of milk, three baskets of fruit, two goats and one bike. A great way in introduce little ones to other cultures.  Ages 3- 5

The Old Truck

They have a pickup truck that is used on a daily basis in the running of a farm. The truck gets old and replaced. The old truck was parked and forgotten. The girl dreamed of restoring the truck to its former glory. She did. Ages 3- 7

It tells the story of her great great grandfather who made a rocking chair with the word Welcome carved on it. The chair came to represent all were welcome in America whether fleeing form religious persecution, natural disasters or war. The chair welcome all with openness, hospitality, and acceptance. 40 pages of text with pictures.  Ages 4 - 8

Time to Pee by Mo Willems  Delightful book for potty training. Mo Willems illustrations will fascinate little ones as they start and continue on their potty training journey. We liked how it ended with PS Don't worry if you don't get it right the first time- you'll get another chance. 1- 3 year olds.

Duck and Company

Duck and Company  by Kathy Caple Rat and Duck work at a bookstore. This chapter book is delightful as the many customer requests Rat and Duck must find. One of them is how to cook rats. Oh, my!  Ages 4 - 7

My Frist Science Book

 My First Science Book by Susan Akass With chapters such as Kitchen Chemistry,  Fantastic Physics and Backyard Biology, this book will catch the interest of all kids. Step-by-step directions with illustrations that allow most experiment to be done alone with no special equipment. We loved the Science Behind the Magic feature to explain what and why things happen, safety tips and science facts. Projects are rated for difficulty, ones you may need to buy supplies and ones that you may want an adult with you.  Ages 7 - 11

Katie Takes a Plane

 Katie Takes a Plane by Liesbet Slegers A perfect book to get preschoolers ready to take a plane trip. It talks about packing, going tot he airport, waiting at the airport, the plane ride, landing, getting off the plane and being somewhere else. This is a must read book.
